Liv Roe and Julia Maskill step down from Albert-Eden Local Board

Two Albert-Eden Local Board members are stepping down, with Julia Maskill and Liv Roe not standing for re-election in the local elections.

Julia served on the board for two terms (2019-2025), with Liv did one term (2022-2025).

Community-led outcomes

Julia and Liv played key roles in advocating for community outcomes, with Julia the lead delegate for the Eden Park Community Group, Watercare Meola Stream Community Liaison Group, as well as pushing for improved design for the temporary Pt Chev Library.

Liv held the lead delegate role The Fringe (Kingsland Business Society), Citizens Advice Bureau and City Rail Link (CRL) Mt Eden Community Liaison Group (CLG).

Transport focus

Transport advocacy and engagement featured highly for Julia and Liv. Julia played a key role working with the community and Auckland Transport to enhance pedestrian safety along New North Road, as well as advocating for more open space and more intensification along well-developed public transport routes, with Liv across the CRL works in Mt Eden with her CLG involvement. 

Arts and environment

Liv Roe advocated for the arts, as well as Māori outcomes. Julia is passionate about the environment, pushing for increased funding for the Te Auaunga stream restoration, as well as being highly engaged in the Meola Stream.

Stepping into a new direction, but not forgotten 

Albert-Eden Local Board Chair Kendyl Smith has is proud of the contributions from Julia and Liv, and acknowledges the mahi and countless hours they both put in to serve the Albert-Eden community.

“It’s been great to work alongside Liv and Julia over the past six years. They have both put the community in the centre of their decision-making and views, and played valuable contributions across a wide range of projects and programmes. We wish them all the best with their next steps.
