Come read, play, and enjoy a little extra aircon over summer as two Whau libraries extend their opening hours.
Whau Local Board has funded the changes at Avondale Library and Blockhouse Bay Library from 15 December.
Both libraries will open three hours longer throughout the week, giving local communities and children on school holidays greater access to reading, learning and recreation opportunities.
Whau Local Board chair Kay Thomas says the board is excited to support extended hours at two of the area’s busiest libraries.
“We’re pleased to help make our libraries more accessible,” she says.
“They’re not just places to borrow books—they’re vibrant, welcoming spaces where people of all ages can learn new skills, build confidence with digital tools, explore te reo Māori, or simply enjoy a quiet moment.
As it’s summer time, a full range of library services and programmes are now available, with something for people of all ages and interests.
If you can’t get to your local library, remember the digital collection and much more is available 24/7 online – visit the Auckland Libraries website for more details.
