Summer is officially calling! Get ready for heaps of fun thanks to support and funding from Henderson-Massey Local Board.
Local boards invest in free activities and great things to see and do, and we’ve got a massive line-up of free events. These include art projects and big screen movies to live music and awesome food trucks. Seriously, there’s something here for everyone!
Come Fly a Kite on TAP
Sunday 8 February 2026 11am - 3pm
It’s back! This is easily one of Henderson-Massey’s most popular summer events. It’s the perfect day to come down to Harbourview-Orangihina Park on Te Atatū peninsula and watch your kite soar high up in the sky with your whole whānau.
This free event is truly spectacular. Expect:
- Professional kite flyers putting on a show.
- A 'Kite Library' if you don’t have one.
- Plenty of activities for the kids, including face painting and bouncy castles.
- Delicious food choices and a great picnic area.
This day is always a huge hit, so make sure you don't miss out on the fun.
Get Out & About in Henderson-Massey
The Out & About Auckland programme is all about bringing free events and activities right to our local parks and open spaces across Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland.
We’re talking obstacle courses, skate clinics, fun nature play sessions, family days, and even free fitness classes. It’s all free to join, thanks again to Henderson-Massey Local Board. Check out what’s happening near you—grab your whānau, invite some friends, and come join the fun!

Te Atatū Food Truck Fridays
Get ready for some amazing eats. Experience Auckland’s best street food, great tunes, and lively entertainment at Te Atatū Food Truck Fridays. There’ll be a fresh lineup of food trucks, plus activities like free ReCreators upcycled craft workshops for kids.
There’s plenty of seating both indoors and out, or picnic in the park, it’s the perfect evening out. Parking is easy onsite with extra space on the grass field behind St John’s Hall. Even better? Walk or bike over!
Join the fun on the first Friday of each month during summer daylight savings (except January). Keep up to date with events on their Facebook page. Come for a delicious dinner, enjoy the vibe, and soak up the atmosphere—it’s a fantastic night out!

West Auckland’s best cultural experiences
Come check out Corban Estate Arts Centre, a cool arts precinct in Henderson located on the historic grounds of the old Corban Estate Winery.
This summer, they’re ready to welcome you and your whānau to experience one of West Auckland’s best cultural activities: curator tours with Java, the Homestead Galleries Curator & Exhibitions Manager. Java will give you the inside story, helping you feel a deeper connection to the artworks and the talented artists who made them.
Also on display this summer is Apapacho, which means "cuddle" in Latin American. This exhibition features Latin American women who create from a place of kindness and warmth—using tenderness as a strong political statement.
Pro-tip: There’s an amazing on-site spot called the Coffee Studio at Corbans. Grab a coffee break while you catch up with your favourite person!
