Annual Plan

People living across the North Shore Ward are being encouraged to share their views on Auckland Council’s Annual Plan 2026/2027, which sets out how the council plans to deliver services and projects for the coming financial year.

The North Shore Ward covers communities including Devonport, Takapuna, Milford, Sunnynook, Birkenhead, Glenfield, Northcote, and Beach Haven, represented locally by the Devonport-Takapuna and Kaipātiki local boards.

North Shore Ward councillor John Gillon says community feedback will help guide decisions about local priorities.

“In this Annual Plan, the Devonport-Takapuna and Kaipātiki local boards are facing significant cost increases largely outside of their control and so have had to put forward a raft of potential service reductions. Your feedback is vital to help guide budget decisions, so please take the opportunity to have your say before consultation closes and help shape the priorities that matter most to our local communities.”

The annual plan continues the direction set in the Long-term Plan 2024–2034, focusing on delivering existing commitments while managing rising costs and maintaining financial discipline.

A key proposal open for feedback is an average residential rates increase of 7.9 per cent, largely driven by the additional costs associated with operating and maintaining the City Rail Link (CRL) once it opens.

The proposed plan also includes $3.9 billion in capital investment across Auckland, supporting essential services such as transport, water, waste, parks and community facilities that Aucklanders rely on every day.

Across the North Shore Ward, this includes maintaining parks and community facilities, supporting local programmes and progressing projects that benefit local residents. Projects underway include improvements to sports fields and facilities, continued investment in parks and open spaces, and planning and delivery work on projects such as the Beach Haven Coastal Connection and upgrades to community facilities.

Consultation on the Annual Plan 2026/2027 runs from 27 February to 29 March 2026.

Residents are encouraged to review the proposals and share their feedback before consultation closes.
