For every $100 you pay in rates this year, around $2 will help shape Auckland's future, unlocking big change through investment in the infrastructure, planning and regeneration that will create a more connected, well-planned and resilient Tāmaki Makaurau.

Transforming our city centre

As we count down to the opening of the City Rail Link (CRL), we’re investing to ensure Auckland’s city centre is a world-class destination to live, work and play.

Ahead of this once-in-a-generation milestone, public space upgrades are being completed around key CRL stations, including Te Hā Noa on Victoria Street. Further work is also progressing to continue the transformation of High Street and Te Toangaroa (Quay Park).

Together with major improvements already delivered across the city centre, these projects are helping create safer, greener and more welcoming streets, and a thriving main hub that benefits the entire region.

Future-focus across Auckland

Across Auckland, we’re continuing to invest in planning and infrastructure projects that will support our region as we grow.

We’ll maintain momentum on urban development programmes, including Drury, while continuing to work with Kāinga Ora and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to progress infrastructure investment in Auckland Housing Programme areas such as Māngere, Tāmaki and Mt Roskill. These investments support new homes and the services communities need to thrive.

We’re also continuing our urban regeneration programme, which focusses on supporting new homes, upgraded town centres and better-connected communities in key growth areas across the region.

Updated planning rules will help focus development in the right places – around town centres, public transport and existing infrastructure – while strengthening protections against natural hazards and meeting new national planning and environmental rules.
