Potter around the pottery museum
Come and visit Te Toi Uku to learn about a local legend and see what the fuss is about Crown Lynn kitchenware.
Te Toi Uku / Crown Lynn Museum celebrates the rich history of West Auckland’s clay industry. Freshly renovated in August 2025, this museum offers a unique look into the ceramic artistry of the area. Discover the collection of ornate pieces and check out the last remaining structure from New Lynn’s brick-making era, the Ambrico kiln built in 1926.
Entry is free and donations are welcome. They are open Wednesday to Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-3pm.
Check OurAuckland’s event listings, as the museum holds a pottery collectors’ market twice a year at the New Lynn Community Centre.

The EcoMatters Bike Hub team are wheely helpful if you need bike maintenance. If you’re in the market for an e-bike, you can try before you buy. They also arrange sustainability activities, such as planting and gardening workshops.
Enjoy the great outdoors
The whole whānau will love Olympic Park with its expansive sandpit, and playground for the kids to play at all day long.
If the tamariki still have energy to burn, head to Olympic Park. There’s plenty of options for all ages and abilities.
The giant climbing net and flying fox are perfect for little monkeys. You can shoot your shot at the basketball half-court or kick a ball around. The covered playground offers fun slides, swings and a sandpit. It was awarded The Outstanding Park Award by the New Zealand Recreation Association in 2017.
An aerial view of the Olympic Park loop.
Go for a wander around the Olympic Park Path loop and be immersed in nature. Walk along the bridge over the Whau River, discover the cycling track and enjoy art installations along the way. You can end your day of fun with a picnic in the park.
