Opening hours at four Henderson-Massey libraries and community hubs will change slightly from 10 October to better meet community demand and visiting patterns.
Among the changes, Te Atatū Peninsula Library will be opening for longer hours, while the opening hours of Te Manawa, Waitākere Central Library, and Rānui Library will be a little shorter.
Henderson-Massey Local Board chair Chris Carter says the changes will ensure the four sites continue to provide a strong range of programmes, events and activities, while making the best use of available resources.
“Our local board, in conjunction with Auckland Council Libraries, reviews opening hours to make sure they reflect when locals are using the services.
“By redistributing opening hours across these four sites, we can provide better access for more locals while keeping disruption to a minimum.
“Our libraries and hubs offer so much more than books, with inspiring programmes, events and activities for our communities. These will continue across all four sites.”
People who cannot visit their local library can continue to access Auckland Council Libraries’ extensive digital collection and podcasts 24/7 online.
Opening hours for all Auckland Council Libraries can be found on the Auckland Libraries website. The online information will be updated when the changes take effect.
