About Te Oro
Te Oro is a performing arts venue and community hub in the in heart of Glen Innes. In this multi-purpose space, young people and the local community can come together to perform, practice and learn the arts; express their creativity and talents; and celebrate their cultures. With an annual programme of performing arts, comedy, dance, plus workshops and creative courses and engagement in local and community events such as the wildly successful Bradley Lane Illuminated. This versatile site offers opportunities to create, learn and collaborate through music and performing arts spaces, access to a digital suite and venue hire spaces.
The name Te Oro has been gifted to the centre by Ngāti Pāoa with the endorsement of Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. As you enter the centre, you’ll be greeted with the tukutuku panel presenting an artistic expression of Te Oro’s visual identity and created by Te Roopū Raranga o Tāmaki Makaurau, a collective of artists and weavers.
Venue hire
Te Oro is a purpose-built performing arts venue with a range of venue hire options. It has a fully functional performance space equipped with a lighting rig, sound system and dressing rooms. You’ll also find a dance studio, multiple music studios, creative spaces and a digital suite available for you and your group to get together and create.
