Auckland Council’s five-year milestone is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the Albert-Eden Local Board during this time.
“During these first years, we’ve concentrated on building our communities, enhancing our environment, making our people safer and delivering high-quality projects,” says board chair Peter Haynes.
“At the same time, we’ve played our part in developing the new council, with its various plans, policies and bylaws.
“Village and town centres are an important focus for us, because they are the hearts of their communities. Through upgrades and enhancements, we’ve worked to ensure their economic vitality and community vibrancy.
“Improving our parks and playgrounds is also a continuing focus. Albert-Eden people are already enjoying fantastic experiences at the Potters Park splash pad, the upgraded Rocket Park, Point Chevalier Beach pontoons, and numerous neighbourhood parks.
“We’ve fostered empowered and connected communities through things like Neighbours’ Day and the innovative community-led consultation being undertaken in Sandringham in conjunction with the SPiCE Group.
"We’ve also started a range of initiatives to promote neighbourhood-level sustainability, including the Eco’Hoods project, and supported volunteers to restore our vital streams and maunga.
“We’re proud of how much we done during the first five years within our limited budget.
"We look forward to continuing to provide the things that matter to the people of Albert-Eden, including the upgrades for the Mt Albert, Point Chevalier, Greenwoods Corner and Sandringham centres, and providing upgraded and additional sportsfields to meet the current shortfall.”

- Playground renewals across the board area, including Bellevue, School, Sainsbury, Essex, Saxon/Kuaka, Taylors, Pollard and other parks, with more in progress
- Billy Apple Art Compass art walk
- Neighbours’ Day grants
- Pontoons at Point Chevalier Beach
- Albert-Eden Community Volunteer Awards
- Temporary art installations on Dominion Rd, including OnDo and Common Exotic
- Funding a community-led planning process with the SPiCE (Sandringham Project in Community Empowerment) group
- Providing funding for the establishment of the Balmoral Chinese Business Association
Albert-Eden Bungalow Festivals 2013 and 2015 - SH16/20 Waterview Connection parks development projects
