Bolt
Looking for a scent work superstar.... Meet Bolt!
About Bolt
- Heading, Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- Male
- Good with children
- 1 year and 6 months
- Can live with other dogs
- Pukekohe Adoption and Education Centre
Personality:
In December 2025, Bolt went to MPI to try his paw at being a detector dog. After lots of training and encouragement, it was decided that full-time detector work wasn’t quite his style. He’d be fantastic for scent work trials or fun challenges at home, but Bolt has decided he’d rather sniff out fun than work a 9-to-5 job. He is motivated by food, but toys… oh boy, does he love a game of tug as a reward!
Tamariki – Dog savvy kids 5+ as he is still a bit bouncy at times.
Cats – Not yet assessed.
Kūri – Friendly, needs ongoing socialisation.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently 23.5kgs and is fully grown.
Ideal home:
Bolt would thrive in a home where he gets plenty of mental stimulation and fun scent work challenges. A family or person who enjoys training, games, and adventures would be perfect. He loves toys and tug games as rewards, an active household that can keep him engaged and provide consistent boundaries will help him shine. Bolt would love a home where his curiosity and cleverness are celebrated. He thrives when he has purpose and fun built into his day, so an adventurous, playful home is ideal.
