About Mangatanoka

  • Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Cross
  • Male
  • Good with children
  • 1 year and 1 month
  • Pukekohe Adoption and Education Centre

Personality:

Friendly, goofy and just wants love. Oh, and treato's!

This guy has a neurological disorder where he is unbalanced/wobby when he walks. Here are our vet's notes below.

"Mangatanoka has a mild head bob and ataxia affecting all 4 limbs. He is mobile and ambulatory - most likely cause is cerebellar hypoplasia. This does not require treatment and should not affect his quality of life - he will just be a bit wobbly! There is no medical reason he should not be adopted, dogs with this condition live normal and very happy lives!"

Tamariki – 10+ as he is wobbly and may knock younger kids over by accident.
Cats – Not assessed yet.

Kūri – Better in a no dog home due to his condition.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently 22kgs and is fully grown.

Ideal home:

Mangatanoka will need a home that can accommodate his needs, and still do life with him, just at a slightly slower pace. We highly recommend doing a little research into cerebellar hypoplasia or discussing with your vet if you have any questions.

We think he deserves a shot at his happy ever after, don't you?

Ready to meet or adopt?

If Mangatanoka sounds like the perfect fit for your home, we’d love to hear from you. Just contact the Pukekohe team to arrange to meet. To apply, simply email the Pukekohe team with the dog’s name and a completed application form (PDF 855kb)

The adoption fee is $450, which includes:

  • Vet check
  • First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
  • Microchipping
  • De-sexing
  • Registration

Things you need to know:

  • All members of the family  - including dogs -  are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
  • A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
  • We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
  • If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
