About Sprout

  • Shar Pei, Cross
  • Male
  • Good with children
  • 10 months
  • Pukekohe Adoption and Education Centre

Personality:

Sprout is a gentle and curious boy. He loves being around people and soaking up attention and affection. He will play with his toys alone but much prefers spending time around people.

Tamariki – 10+ as he can be shy around loud noises and sudden movements.
Cats – He is interested in the cats and will likely chase. No cats.

Kūri – Rude when meeting dogs but is working on this.
Stock/poultry – Untested, likely to chase.
Size – Currently 21.4kgs and is likely fully grown.

Ideal home:

We are looking for a home with Sharpei breed experience or knowledge. Sprout will benefit from ongoing training and controlled socialisation with other dogs so he can continue to learn and practice his manners and how to meet dogs nicely. He is a shy, gentle boy but once he builds confidence, we believe he will be a truly stand out dog!

From shelter to snuggles, could you be Sprout's forever home?

Ready to meet or adopt?

If Sprout sounds like the perfect fit for your home, we’d love to hear from you. Just contact the Pukekohe team to arrange to meet. To apply, simply email the Pukekohe team with the dog’s name and a completed application form (PDF 855kb)

The adoption fee is $450, which includes:

  • Vet check

  • Registration
  • Bath
  • Flea and worm treatment
  • 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur

Things you need to know:

  • All members of the family  - including dogs -  are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
  • A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
  • We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
  • If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
