Texas is a sweet, curious Shar Pei puppy with a cheeky personality and a very unique look. His beautiful white and tan coat is sprinkled with speckles all over, making him quite the standout. Like most puppies, Texas loves attention and enjoys being around people. He’s eager to learn, has a great food drive which will make training fun and rewarding, and is already showing lots of potential to grow into a wonderful companion.
Texas is still learning about the world and will need a family committed to continuing his training and socialisation as he grows. Being a Shar Pei, he will do best in a home with previous dog experience, as this breed can come with some specific care requirements, particularly around their skin and eyes. His new family should be prepared to stay on top of regular care and monitoring to keep him happy and healthy.

Kūri – Friendly but will need ongoing socialisation; puppy school recommended
Stock/poultry – Not tested; would need the right introductions
Size – Currently weighing 6kg and expected to grow into a medium-sized dog

Texas is looking for a committed and experienced home that understands the needs of the Shar Pei breed. He would thrive with a family who can continue building his confidence, provide consistent training, and ensure his socialisation continues as he grows. Puppy school is strongly recommended to help him develop into a well-rounded adult dog. With the right guidance, patience, and love, Texas has the potential to become a loyal and affectionate companion.

The adoption fee is $450, which includes:
- Vet check
- First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
- Microchipping
- De-sexing
- Registration
- Bath
- Flea and worm treatment
- 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur
Things you need to know:
- All members of the family - including dogs - are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
- A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
- We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
- If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
