Wānaka

He’s absolutely convinced he’s lap sized, you just have to ignore the fact that half of him is still on the floor 😌🐾

About Wānaka

  • Huntaway, Cross
  • Male
  • Good with children
  • 1 year and 2 months
  • Can live with other dogs
  • Pukekohe Adoption and Education Centre

Personality:

Wānaka is a big, energetic cuddle bug who thinks he is still a puppy! He loves to get out and about and explore but he also wants to be close and thinks he can totally fit on your lap. He settles quickly when you do and has a good brain, he just needs someone to help him engage it.

Tamariki – 10+ as he really is a big puppy and is still learning manners.
Cats – Not yet assessed.

Kūri – He can be a bit rude in meetings as he just wants to say hi. He could do well with a tolerant dog to show him the ropes.
Stock/poultry – Not tested.
Size – Currently 25kgs and is fully grown.

Ideal home:

Wānaka is looking for a home that understands the huntaway/working breed. We are looking for an active home that enjoys mixing walks with brain games as he’s a smart cookie who we think will learn new tricks quickly and have a lot of fun doing it.

Could your whāre be the one for a big, gentle baby looking for his people?

Things you need to know:

  • All members of the family  - including dogs -  are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
  • A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
  • We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
