WEEK ONE

Monday 8 July - Auckland Zoo Session (no live animals): 10am - 11am

Connect to Matariki, Papatūānuku and the Zoo and our wider natural environment with a range of hands-on activities that help to translate curiosity and compassion into meaningful actions for the coming year.

Whānau will have the opportunity to reflect on recent changes around Aotearoa and the Zoo, then consider ways to conserve the natural tāonga around us. From learning to sow a seed, to managing our pets at home or weaving a whētu, there will be something for every little star to get stuck into.
    
Tuesday 9 July - Manu Tukutuku Craft: 10:30am - 11:30am

Connect to the skies with a manu tukutuku (kite) craft!  Suitable for ages 5+

Wednesday 10 July - CyberNix: 10am - 2pm 

Join the team from CyberNix for a day of adventure and discovery with the CyberNix Digital Discovery Day! Perfect for kids (8-17) and their parents, our event packs esports thrills and tech creativity into one exhilarating day. Don't miss out! 

Thursday 11 July - Whetū craft: 1030am - 11:30am  

Whetū (stars) are very important during Matariki. Come along and celebrate with a craft that might leave you 'starry-eyed'. Suitable for ages 5+

Friday 12 July - Scavenger Hunt: Pasifika Matariki: 10:30am - 11:30am 

Matariki is also known outside of Aotearoa - throughout the Pacific! Participate in a fun scavenger hunt and learn about how Matariki is known in different Pasifika cultures. Suitable for ages 5+

Saturday 13 July - Movie Mania: 10:30am 

Come along to a recent flick that explores themes that we see during Matariki. BYO snacks, but popcorn will be provided! Suitable for all ages.

WEEK TWO

Monday 15 July - Matariki Games: 10:30am - 11:30am 

Play some games with us! The librarians will take you through some activities, and there will be a range of different games to play. Suitable for ages 5+

Tuesday 16 July - Hua Whenua/Friendship Soup: 1030am - 11:30am  

Connect to Tupuānuku and cook a heartyand grounding friendship soup. Please be aware of food allergens. Suitable for ages 5+

Wednesday 17 July - Kahoot Quiz: 10:30am - 11:30am 

Come along and test your knowledge about Matariki and win some spot prizes! BYO device - some devices will be made available to use. Suitable for ages 5+


Thursday 18 July - Harakeke Whetū: 10:30am - 11:30am 
Learn how to weave using harakeke. We'll be weaving beautiful whetū to celebrate Matariki. Suitable for ages 6+

Friday 19 July - Jar lanterns: 10:30am - 11:30am
 

Get creative and crafty! Make your own Matariki lantern using jars - you can bring your own jar from home if you wish. Suitable for ages 5+

Saturday 20 July - Movie Mania: 10:30am
