Matariki star hanging

Friday 12 July, 2:30pm

Decorate one of Isobel Joy Te Aho-White's beautiful stars from the Matariki cluster: Tupu-ā-nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Waitī, Waitā, Waipuna-ā-rangi, Pōhutukawa, Ururangi, Hiwa-i-te-rangi or Matariki to take home.

Make an 8 point star to hang against your bedroom door or wall.

 

Auckland Zoo

Monday 15 July, 1:00pm

Connect to Matariki, Papatūānuku, the Zoo and our wider natural environment with a range of hands-on activities.

Join us for the opportunity to reflect on recent changes around Aotearoa and the Zoo and consider ways to conserve the natural tāonga around us.

From learning to sow a seed, to managing our pets at home or weaving a whētu, there will be something for every little star to get stuck into.    

 

Tupuarangi Bird & Insect junk creatures

Monday 15 July, 2:30pm

Come and make a little critter for Rata’s Canoe. A young man named Rata decides to build a waka.

He finds the tallest, straightest tree in the forest, but forgets to offer prayers to Tāne Mahuta, the God of the Forest, before he cuts down the tree.

 

Matariki BINGO

Wednesday 17 July, 2:30pm

Game time Wednesday. Matariki Wharewhare (BINGO) is a whānau friendly kēmu to gain knowledge about Matariki encouraging competition, listening and recognition skills.

 

Olympic Games Paris 2024 / Friday 26 July – Sunday 11 August 2024

Saturday 20 July & Sunday 21 July 11am – 3pm

Come and make a gold medal as a start to your 2024 Paris Olympics journey. 

All activites are free and aimed at school age children.
