Calling all crime fiction fans! Join us for an evening of suspense with award-winning author Michael Bennett (Return to Blood) and debut author Gavin Strawhan (The Call) and Ngaio Marsh Awards judge Darise Bennington.

About the books:

Meet the authors and facilitator

  • Michael Bennett (Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāti Whakaue) is an award-winning screenwriter, director, and author. His previous work, "In Dark Places," won Best Non-Fiction Book at the Ngaio Marsh Awards. "Return to Blood" is the sequel to his acclaimed novel, "Better the Blood."
  • Gavin Strawhan is a creator, writer, and showrunner known for his work on shows like Shortland Street and Outrageous Fortune. "The Call" is his gripping debut crime novel, winner of the 2023 Allen & Unwin Fiction Prize.
  • Facilitated by Darise Bennington, an Auckland lawyer and Ngaio Marsh Awards judge.

  • The centre is conveniently located near the junction of Mt Albert Road and Mt Eden Road on Three Kings Reserve and is co-located with the Mt Roskill Library and Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB). There is off-street parking available near the Centre.
