These school holidays, we’re offering a range of exciting, hands-on activities at Devonport Library for tamariki of all ages! From creating Māori instruments and building castles to coding robots, there’s something for everyone. Join us for fun, creativity, and learning – perfect for the whole whānau to enjoy together!

Events these school holidays include:

 Pūrerehua (taonga puoro): Explore the World of Māori Music

Tuesday, 1st October (10-11am)
Bring your tamariki (5+) along to create their very own pūrerehua (bullroarer) or get hands-on with a fun engineering challenge – building a Haast Eagle paper plane! A perfect activity to spark creativity and cultural connection for the whole whānau. 

Castle Creations: Build Your Dream Fortress!

Thursday, 3rd October (10-11am)
Let your imagination run wild as you and your tamariki (5+) design and construct a magnificent castle from recycled materials! It’s a fun and eco-friendly way for families to work together and bring their dream castles to life.

Old School Toys: Craft and Play Together
Tuesday, 8th October (10-11am)
Step back in time and create your own spinning top from old CDs or make a magical thaumatrope! Ideal for tamariki (5+) and parents who want to experience some nostalgic fun together while crafting unique, old-school toys.

Robotics with Arien: Code, Build, Race!
Thursday, 10th October (10-11am)
Perfect for tamariki 8+, this session introduces coding with Edison robots! Join in on the excitement as families learn to code and race robots like BB-8. It’s a tech-filled hour of discovery and competition for future engineers and their whānau. *
