Outdoor Wine Cap Mushrooms 1200 × 900_msmjmuu3.jpg

Join Sarah Williams for an informative workshop on how to grow King Stropharia mushroom (also known as Burgundy and Wine Cap).

This tasty mushroom has a wonderful flavour, is packed with protein and is easy to grow on woodchips, making it ideal for the urban backyard.

Once established, they form an important component of your edible self-sufficiency. Sarah has been doing this successfully for 10 years!

The workshop will cover:

  • The benefits of fungi on health, soil and ecosystems

  • How to incorporate King Stropharia into an outside garden bed for long-term production

  • Using our teaching garden to assess the pros and cons of different sites

  • Prepare a bed and lay down spawn – giving participants the confidence to replicate this process in their situation

We will endeavour to have fresh mulch delivered before the workshop so if you bring some bags, you can take some of this home to prepare your patch.
