Showcasing the diverse artistic talents of the internationally acclaimed Red Wave Collective (founded in 1998) and the emerging Blue Wave Collective, this exhibition celebrates oceanic peoples and underscores their cultural contributions, interconnectedness, and commitment to environmental stewardship. It blends traditional motifs with contemporary expressions rooted in local cosmologies and histories.

RWBW has gained international recognition with exhibitions in Australia, Hawai’i, New Caledonia and the UK, with the inaugural Aotearoa exhibition at Pātaka Art+Museum in June this year.
This exhibition is timed to coincide with; Melanesian Festival Aotearoa, 2 November, Papua Niugini Tok Pisin 10 November – 16 November, and Solomon Aelan Pijin 24 November - 30 November, Language Weeks.

Red Wave, Blue Wave is proudly supported by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and is co-developed by Pātaka Art+Museum with The University of the South Pacific.
