Florence Ulutunu is a multidisciplinary artist of Sāmoan decent, her heritage connecting her to the villages of Si’umu, Sāmusu, Sātupa’itea and Faleū. Her current work focuses on the revival of siapo making and exploring the relationship between practice and identity.
This weekend adult workshop will explore these themes of making and identity from both individual perspectives but also through collaborative learning.
Be introduced to the histories and narratives around siapo, its use, its significance, promoting the community empowerment from the transfer of generational knowledge. You will be guided through the step-by-step processes involved in making it, creating your own to take home.
