For the first time, Music in Parks is taking over the annual CultureFest Music Stage to bring you some of the best music from around the globe – Afrobeat, Ghanaian Highlife and Ethiopian discofunk, a Jamaican-Pasifika songstress and, spinning the crispiest biscuits, Mr Stinky Jim…

The superb line-up features Latin Aotearoa, Rubi Du, Ozi Ozaa, and This Place Here (feat, Swap Gomez and Stephen Small).

‘This Place Here’ is a new ensemble founded by Swap Gomez (Yoko-Zuna, CHAII) in collaboration with Stephen Small (Kitaro). The project draws on instrumentation from a variety of cultural voices in Aotearoa.

Yaw Asumadu, a Ghanaian master musician, formed Ozi Ozaa – a huge band packed full of funk and jazz with sweet highlife and traditional African rhythms.

Well known Auckland reggae artist Rubi Du boasts heavy bass lines and melodic vocals, her singles ‘D&G’, as well as ‘Back Up’ have cut dance floors and radio waves alike.

Brazilian-born Auckland DJ Bobby Brazuka and Venezuelan singer Jennifer Zea created a unique live performance with Bobby’s Latin influenced soul-funk and hip-hop selections layered with Jennifer’s ravishing vocals – it’s Latinaotearoa!

This will be the final event of the season and a huge day of great music and amazing food trucks and stalls, see you there!
