It's widely known that Auckland city is built on an area known as the Auckland Volcanic Field. It is less well known that Papakura and Franklin Districts are located upon the older, and larger, South Auckland Volcanic Field.
Join Auckland Geology Group for an introduction to the volcanic sites near Pukekohe. We will review the geological history and consider how this has influenced settlement and development of our district. This will be followed by a short walk to inspect the remains of a nearby eruption.
