As the oldest purpose-built cinema in the Southern Hemisphere the Vic has a great story to tell. From its beginnings in 1912 when it was a "picture palace" showing silent films, to the advent of the "talking" movies and then the digital age, the Vic encompasses the history of cinema in New Zealand.
This 25 minute film charts the history and the dynamic community campaign that saved the theatre from destruction.
