A conversation on the performance art legacy of Peter Roche and Linda Buis. Examine how their collaborative works, staged in diverse locations from public art galleries to abandoned spaces, played with audiences and the urban landscape of Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. Roche and Buis worked as an artist-couple between 1979 and 1985, creating 25 site-specific performance works.
To document their performances, they often collaborated with photographers, writers, and other artists. This documentation forms the basis of the Peter Roche and Linda Buis Archive held at the E H McCormick Research Library. In this session, library staff will provide access to this rich material, sparking a discussion on the couple's performance history and the playful, immersive nature of their practice.
