The word 'sweet' in the name Sweet Pea relates to the plant's fragrance. Visit our 24th Annual Flower Show featuring Sweet Peas and savour the gorgeous scent. This display also showcases seasonal blooms, herbs, plants, produce, and floral arrangements.
We have a great selection of entries open to everyone, with special categories for children. Consider exhibiting flowers, fruit, and vegetables from your garden - give it a go. Help us create a cornucopia of colour!
Dr Keith Hammett, world-renowned plant breeder, will also be exhibiting six different Sweet Peas for visitors to sniff. Keith started a programme six years ago to breed specifically to enhance the plant's scent. Visitors will have the chance to mark on a simple voting paper which vase they believe has the strongest fragrance.
Also, take the opportunity to get free advice from experienced gardeners and horticulturists, and to learn more about the various garden and floral clubs and societies in Auckland.
