Join us for some fun activities this summer. A few of our events require registration; otherwise, just turn up and join in! And don’t forget to sign up your tamariki for Raumati Reads for a summer of reading adventures and chances to win some amazing prizes!

Please note tamariki must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver.

Saturday 20 December - 2-4pm: Sew a Fabric Star with the Re-Creators

Re-use fabric scraps and buttons to make a decorative star. This is a great activity for tamariki to practice sewing on a button – an essential skill for learning to mend clothing in the future!

This activity involves using a sewing needle. We recommend it for children aged 7 and over, with close adult supervision.

Saturday 21 December - 2:30-4pm: Make a Christmas card

Join our regular community art group to make Christmas cards. This activity is suitable for all whānau.

Tuesday 23 December - 2pm start: Christmas Movie

Settle in at the library for a family Christmas movie. All welcome.

Monday 5 January - Sunday 1 February: Scavenger Hunt

Pick up a scavenger hunt from the desk and spend the summer exploring our library. The scavenger hunt can be done at any time throughout these dates, but please note the Research and Heritage floor closes at 6pm on weekdays and is closed on Sundays.

Thursday 8 January - 11am-12:30pm: Litter Hunt & DIY T-shirt Yarn Bracelets

Note: this event is in Albert Park. Spaces are limited. Please register here: centralcitylibrarykids@govt.co.nz

Join the WasteWise team for a fun-filled litter hunt and sorting activity, followed by tips and tricks for recycling right and reusing what you already have at home. You will also get to make a DIY friendship bracelet with yarn made from old t-shirts!

Remember to wear comfortable shoes and meet at the band Rotunda in Albert Park at 11am. In the event of bad weather, we will meet inside the Central City Library.

Suitable for ages 6 and over.

Saturday 10 - 2-3:30pm: Book Craft sessions

Get creative with some book-themed crafts.
