Nau mai, haere mai to Girls Skate NZ — a series of inclusive skateboarding sessions designed to empower girls and wāhine to get active, build confidence, and connect with their community. Delivered by experienced female coaches, these classes cater to absolute beginners through to intermediate and advanced skaters, with all equipment provided.

We’ll meet at the skatepark for a warm welcome, introductions, and a quick gear check before starting a fun group warm-up to help everyone feel comfortable and build camaraderie. From there, we move into a structured skate session tailored to each participant’s ability.

Beginners will learn fundamental safety skills and basic techniques through engaging games that build confidence, before progressing to individual skills and fun challenges.
Intermediate and advanced skaters will be supported to set their own goals, try new tricks, and develop independence in their progression — with coaches offering personalised guidance every step of the way.

Each session wraps up with a group activity or mini-game to reinforce skills, followed by a cool down, reflection, and a celebration of every skater’s progress.

Girls Skate NZ is about more than skateboarding — it fosters resilience, mental well-being, whanaungatanga, and representation in active recreation spaces. By activating local skateparks, we’re encouraging healthy lifestyles and creating pathways for ongoing, lifelong participation.

An inclusive, positive, and supportive environment for all ages and abilities — come roll with us!
