Suitable for all ages unless specified otherwise; parental assistance and guidance may be required for younger tamariki.
No bookings required; spaces available on a first come, first served basis.
Programme Outline:
Tuesday 6 January 2-3pm: Summer Journal DIY
Make and create your own summer journal using recycled paper. Take it with your wherever you go and note down all the things and places you see this summer.
Thursday 8 January 2-3pm: Character Tote Bag
Personalise a tote bag and decorate it with characters from some of our favourite stories. Bonus point - fill it up with library books to take home and read over the summer!
Saturday 10 January 2pm: Summer Movie Time
Bring a friend, family or just yourself and enjoy a summer themed movie at the library. Popcorn provided.
Monday 12 January 2-3pm: Bubble World
Design and create your own bubble wand to blow some bubbles with and have a bubble-tastic time.
Wednesday 14 January 2-3pm: Badge Making
Mix and match words and images from recycled book and magazines to create your own story on a badge.
Friday 16 January 2-3pm: Game on! – Large edition
Challenge yourself, a friend or family to a game at the library.
Tuesday 20 January 2-3pm: Block Printing
Create and print your own unique pattern using Lego.
Thursday 22 January 2-3.30pm: Magic Performance & Workshop
Watch a magical performance up-close and learn cool magic tricks from magician Jayden.
Saturday 24 January 2pm: Summer Movie Time

Wednesday 28 January 2-3pm: Cardboard Play
Transform the library into a cardboard world - construct, make and create with just cardboard and your wildest imagination.
Friday 30 January 2-3pm: Creative Brick Building
Build and create using LEGO blocks - free build to test out your imagination or challenge yourself to create something new and wild!
Saturday 31 January 11am-1pm: Digital Play with CyberNix
Join CyberNix for a fun, active & hands-on session where you get to try out all their digital toys and video games.
Throughout the holidays: Raumati Reads Summer Reading Challenge
Raumati Reads is a free, fun summer reading challenge for primary school aged children that will help them maintain their reading levels over the summer break. It’s a must-do for the school holidays offering free events and activities at local libraries across Tāmaki Makaurau, with great prizes to be won.
Tamariki and their whānau can register from Saturday 6 December at their local Auckland Libraries branch to begin the challenge, which runs until Sunday 1 February. Stay tuned to https://www.aucklandlibraries.govt.nz/ for all you need to know!
