Come along and witness hundreds of monarch butterflies take flight. This free, family-friendly event, held in partnership with Franklin Farms and our friends at Multiple Sclerosis Auckland, celebrates pollinator conservation and the beauty of nature.

We’ll also have entertainment including live music, giant outdoor bubbles, wooden lawn games, and a monarch-themed tattoo station; food & drink for sale from Miko Café, a real fruit ice cream truck, a special Multiple Sclerosis Auckland bake sale; and of course, exploring! Don't miss out on the Tangled Roots exhibition and the award-winning Potters Children’s Garden at Auckland Botanic Gardens.

The butterflies will be released at 11am.

There will also be live music from Kra Koto Kra.

Kra Koto Kra is Auckland's own West African style drumming ensemble. Made up of members from Auckland's ethnically diverse community, they all share a common passion for drumming together. Playing traditional West African rhythms from nations such as Guinea, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali and Ghana, the group has been thrilling and delighting audiences since 2018.
