This Pride, we’re inviting you to express yourself at the Museum!
Dive into our dress-ups, learn a chant and take part in a mini-parade in the Museum, led by silly, sparkly drag-king extraordinaire Hugo Grrrl.
To help prepare for the parades (and for quieter types!), we’ll have free craft activities throughout the day – headband-making and a collective banner to decorate – as well as face-painting and an artist-led workshop for kids aged 8-15.
Auckland Museum is a safe and inclusive place for all, and we welcome all families to come and celebrate the richness of the society in which we live. We warmly welcome LGBTTQIA+ and takatāpui families, and their allies to a fun-filled day of activities and entertainment.

Tote Bag Workshop
We express ourselves through what we wear every day! Take up some fabric pens and choose from an array of bespoke “Express Yourself” stamps by artist Toni Mosley, and fashion your own unique tote bag (or bring an old t-shirt from home to upcycle!).
This workshop will be open to ages 8 – 15.
Free, one tote bag provided per person.
Toni Mosely & Blue Bathtub Press
Toni Mosely is an artist and printmaker with a love for working within the community. Toni’s work is inspired by the people she meets and the stories they tell. She uses symbols, composition, and subtle colours to express herself through quirky imagery. Toni is also the operator and lead paper shuffler at Blue Bathtub Press, a studio and initiative for different forms of traditional printmaking.
Hugo Grrrl is a drag king, a doofus and comedy and cabaret producer, and a very silly, sparkly man.
He won season 1 of NZ’s drag race (House of Drag) making him the first drag king ever to both feature in and win a televised reality competition. He won an Absolutely Positively Wellingtonian Award in 2020 for contribution to the arts, Best Producer, Best MC and Outstanding Achievement (for diversity in comedy) at The Wellington Comedy Awards 2018 and was nominated for Wellingtonian of The Year in 2018. By day, he works as a gender diversity educator, working passionately to increase rainbow literacy and acceptance in Aotearoa.
This event is part of the 2026 Auckland Pride Festival. See the full programme at aucklandpride.org.nz.
