Waitangi ki Ōmaru is a free whānau event, inviting everyone to "give it a go" while celebrating Te Tiriti o Waitangi through Participation, Partnership, and Protection.

Enjoy activities for all ages and capabilities, with performances representing Aotearoa - New Zealand, China, Cook Islands, Samoa, Hawaii, and Brazil.

Food Trucks & Stalls:
Filipino, Spanish, Māori, Vietnamese, Tongan, and BBQ food with plenty of drinks and ice creams.

Activities for Tamariki:

  • Tamariki ki tua arts and crafts (preschoolers)
  • Face painting
  • Giant Egg & Spoon races
  • Coordination game challenges

Activities for Kaumātua & Whaikaha (elderly & disabled)

  • Card games (euchre, jacks)
  • Open games — bring something to challenge your neighbour
  • Chill out area

  • 10.30am – China: Jin Yan Dance Group
  • 11.00am – Cook Islands: Tama’aru Cultural Dance Group
  • 11.30am – NZ: Boot Scootin Line Dancers
  • 12.00pm – Aotearoa NZ Country: Te Whānau
  • 12.30pm – Karaoke & Giveaways
  • 2.00pm – Siva Samoa & Hawaii: Ura Tabu
  • 2.30pm – Brazil: Musas Samba Passion
  • 3.10pm – Mana Whenua: Ngāti Pāoa

This is a Parakore event -  we are committed to a zero-waste kaupapa by reducing rubbish, encouraging reusable items, and caring for Papatūānuku.
