Reading Rākau: 'Leaf' a Book Recommendation | Tuesday 7 April - Sunday 19 April 

Is there a book you think everyone should read? Leave a book recommendation on our Reading Rākau interactive display in Te Whare Tapere / the Children’s Space to help grow another reader just like you!

Look for the paper leaves to write on. Ask at the library desk if you need help.

Cartoon Workshop with Stu Duval | Tuesday 7 April: 10.30am - 11.30am

Get ready to draw and create like a real artist! Join us for a super fun interactive cartoon drawing workshop with famous artist and author Stu Duval. Ideal for children aged 7 years and up.

Space is limited, so make sure you arrive and are ready to start by 10.25am.

Manu / Bird Craft with Librarians | Wednesday 8 April: 10.30am - 11.30am

Manu is the kupu, bird is the word! Create your own winged creature with recycled materials and library books. Or, choose from one of our Aotearoa bird papercrafts. Ideal for children aged 5 years and up, as we will be using scissors.

LEGO Play and Marble Run | Thursday 9 April: 10.30am - 12.00pm

Calling all builders! Join us for a play day in the Kōkiri-Ngātahi Auditoriums with LEGO bricks, DUPLO, and Marble Run.

There’s plenty of space to build your masterpiece! Ideal for children aged 5 years and up because there are small objects. DUPLO is available for younger children.

Pacific Poetry: Mixed Media Craft Workshop | Friday 10 April: 2.00pm - 3.30pm

Explore Pacific identity through poetry and create your own mixed media craft. Reflect and work in dialogue with poetry prompts from Indigenous creatives. Amplify voices and create a new piece that represents your identity!

Practices include collage, black-out poetry, junk journalling and more. Bring a friend or come and make some new ones!

Ideal for teens aged 12-18 years.

Hands Alive Puppet Show | Tuesday 14 April: 10.00am - 10.30am

​​Dive into a lively, hands‑on hour where you’ll learn to turn everyday materials into fantastic, one-of-a-kind puppets. Bring your imagination. We will supply all the resources.
