Join artist Ammon Ngakuru as he introduces us to his installation Three Scenes. Ammon talks with Senior Curator Global Contemporary Art Natasha Conland sharing insights into his creative process – from the first spark of an idea through to the realisation of his artworks, offering a deeper look into the thinking and making behind the works on display.
Following the talk guests will have the rare opportunity to explore the artworks through touch, using provided gloves, engaging with the pieces beyond the visual and discovering the textures and forms that shape Ngakuru’s practice.

About the artist
Ammon Ngakuru (born 1993, Ngāti Maniapoto, Te Roroa and Ngāpuhi) lives and works in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. He holds a Bachelor of Visual Art from Auckland University of Technology and a Master of Fine Art from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland. Ngakuru’s artistic practice is concerned with the way that history, categorisation and value operate within the ‘post’-colonial context.
