Join Restore Hibiscus & Bays for our 2026 community planting days across the Hibiscus Coast.
From May through to August we have planting days happening at reserves across Red Beach, Gulf Harbour, Silverdale, Orewa, Army Bay, Whangaparāoa and Hatfields Beach - including a special Matariki celebration planting in July.
What is it?
A community planting day where volunteers come together to plant native trees in local reserves. Every tree planted creates vital habitat for wildlife, stabilises coastal and stream edges, and enhances the natural beauty of the Hibiscus Coast for generations to come.
Who can come?
Everyone is welcome - individuals, families, businesses and community groups of all ages and backgrounds. No experience needed.
What's involved?
You'll be planting native trees and shrubs under the guidance of our team. Events run for 2-4 hours depending on the site. It's outdoors, active, and a great way to meet your neighbours and give back to your local environment.
What to bring:
- Gardening gloves
- A clean spade (if you have one - tools provided if not)
- Water and snacks
- Sturdy closed-toe shoes
- Warm layers - it's winter!
- Gumboots are recommended for Wetland planting days.
What's provided:
- All tools and equipment
- Native plants
- Guidance and instruction throughout.
