On Tuesday, 29 October 2024, the wind suddenly picked up while kayaking around New Zealand leaving Paul battling 70-80 km/h winds and 2-2 half metre waves. After capsizing and losing his kayak, Paul was left stranded on the rocks in a state of shock, suffering from hypothermia and believing there was little hope.
