Response 79 Epsom Heritage Walk Lava, Homes And History

On this guided architectural walk, you'll appreciate Epsom’s distinctive character. Shaped by a 15,000-year-old lava flow (much of it still untouched) that was recognised in 1981, the area retains large properties and a sense of openness.

Home to leaders and creative personalities, the suburb includes structures by architect William Gummer. Explore landmark sites such as Firth Castle, Auckland Grammar School, and the former hospital, alongside gracious homes set in lush gardens with dry stone walls. Led by architect and heritage specialist Cristina Capri, the walk also highlights Arts and Crafts influences in buildings in Aotearoa New Zealand.
