Clevedon and the Wairoa Valley offer one of Auckland's most complete rural heritage stories, from indigenous cultivation through colonial settlement with its river-based food trade that gave rise to Clevedon village.
The event features a 30-minute presentation by author Jessie Munro ('Voices of Belonging'), tracing how the Wairoa river valley fed a growing city.
Guests then gather for a heritage morning tea and an opportunity to explore the McNicol Homestead museum. Participants are invited to walk the new Clevedon Village Heritage Trail, a self-guided walk connecting 19 sites across 6km through a village that grew around food production and continues to grow today.
