Voting opens in the Papatoetoe election: check your letterbox!

Publish Date : 09 Mar 2026

Do you live in Papatoetoe? Check your letterbox from today so you can vote in the Papatoetoe election.

Voting opens today Monday 9 March and voting papers will be delivered to eligible voters between 9 and 12 March.

Vote Auckland has candidate profiles available with additional information provided by the candidates about themselves and their policies.

General Manager Governance and Engagement at Auckland Council, Lou-Ann Ballantyne, encourages Papatoetoe people to check their letterboxes over the next few days to ensure they have their voting papers.

“You can vote when you get your papers and we encourage people to vote as soon as they can. Please don’t tuck the papers away – check out the candidates who are standing and vote today. Every envelope that gets posted back or dropped into a voting box shows your great support for Papatoetoe, says Ms Ballantyne.

Voting papers are personal to you and should not be handled by anyone but the voter.

“We also have a note of caution that voting papers are personal items which should only be handled by the voter they are addressed to,” she adds.

People in Papatoetoe can vote in this election only if they were eligible to vote in the Papatoetoe Subdivision at the October 2025 local election. If anyone is unsure whether they are eligible, they should contact the Electoral Office.

Anyone who has not received their voting papers by Thursday 12 March 2026 should contact the Electoral Office at info@electionservices.co.nz or call 0800 922 822.

The Electoral Office can confirm voter eligibility and explain how to cast a special vote.

Voting in the Papatoetoe election closes at midday on Thursday 9 April, in the week after Easter.
