Kaipātiki youth will soon have a new place to meet, network and socialise thanks to Kaipātiki Local Board.
The board is investing $800,000 into refurbishing the old Marlborough Park Hall so it can operate as a youth-focused centre for 12 to 24-year-olds.
Improvements to the hall will include construction of a kitchen and toilets, realignment of rooms, installation of a communications system, an extension of the existing terrace, new wiring and insulation, and improved building access.
Kaipātiki Local Board member Richard Hills says the facility will be a fun place for youth to hang out and will also help address important issues confronting young people.
“Our local youth have been asking for a space that focuses on their interests and needs, so I am excited this project now has the green light to proceed.”
Construction is expected to start in early 2016.
