Signs are used for everything from advertising goods and services to promoting events, providing information and selling real estate.
A new Auckland Council Signage Bylaw recognises how important it is that signs maintain the look and feel of an area and help people stay safe.
The bylaw guides community organisations and businesses on the size of signs and where they should be placed. For example, it ensures that pedestrians have plenty of room to move safely when portable signs are used on busy footpaths and near bus lanes in town centres.
Under the new bylaw, the zone your business is located in is defined in the Auckland Unitary Plan.
