In October Te Oro, Auckland Council’s new music and arts facility in Glen Innes, took out a host of awards – including the supreme honour – at the national Best Design Awards ceremony.
The prestigious Purple Pin – an award which recognises work that raises the standard of New Zealand design – was bestowed on Te Oro in the Interactive category.
The centre also received awards in a further four categories, including a Gold Pin for Ngā Aho (Māori Design) for the Te Oro Tukutuku panel, Silver Pin for Large Brand Identity, Gold Pin for Small Scale Website, and Bronze Pin for Design Craft for the Te Oro typeface.
Te Oro is a multi-purpose space where young people and the local community can come together to perform, practise and learn the arts; express their creativity and talents; and celebrate their cultures. It is funded in part by Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board.
