Aucklanders can look forward to enjoying an exciting new swimming facility in Albany next summer.
Construction on the new 4000 square metre swimming pool adjacent to Albany’s QBE Stadium is continuing with underground and ground-level works now virtually completed.
The focus now shifts to ground-level and above ground with the construction of the facility’s main frame, pool construction and mezzanine structures.
A focus on fun
Albany Stadium Pool is a different offering to other pools in Auckland Council’s leisure network, focusing on fun and recreation for all ages and abilities.
A zero depth splash pad will provide toddlers with their first aquatic experience with exciting splash and spray water features, while the shallow kids’ pools will include slides, water cannons and a large play structure for kids to develop confidence in the water.
For the more confident kids and adults, the leisure pool can be set up for an array of water activities and structured lane swimming and will have a permanent climbing wall in the deep end.
Other facilities include:
- a spa and sauna
- a separate pool for learn-to-swim sessions and classes like aqua aerobics
- membership fitness and group exercise area
- a room available for party hire.
Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2016/17 with a public opening event in early 2017.
