Howick has something for everyone. With a combination of a rich history, stunning views, thriving shopping and café scenes, to a laid back game of golf on one of our picturesque courses, the Howick Local Board area will not disappoint.
Just 30 minutes from central Auckland via the motorway or, if you want a more scenic route, take the ferry from Auckland to Half Moon Bay Marina.
The Howick Local Board area includes the suburbs of Pakuranga, Howick, Botany, Flat Bush and East Tamaki.
Visitors are then presented with many options to fill the day exploring; head to the historical village from the 1840’s, take a walk around Musick Point peninsula for a truly stunning view, or check out the local beaches on those long summer days.

Great things to do in Howick:
- You can’t miss a trip to the Howick Historical Village – a living history museum that provides an opportunity to learn about Auckland’s colonial period.
- A waterfall, estuary views, native bush, birdlife and grazing cattle are just some of the highlights of a visit to Mangemangeroa Reserve.
- The kids will be thankful if you stop off at Barry Curtis Park with its incredible playground. Bring a picnic!
- Keep fit in scenic surrounds with a walk, cycle or run around the Tāmaki Estuary and Whakaaranga Creek on the the Pakuranga Rotary Walkway.
- Try cuisine from around the world at the Night Markets 6pm Saturday in the underground Pakuranga Plaza car park.
- Enjoy the serenity of the Fo Guang Shan Temple, you can walk around the gardens and visit the amazing vegetarian café.
- Catch the ferry between Waiheke and Half Moon Bay.
- Cockle Bay, Howick Beach and Mellons Bay are great spots for a summer swim.
- Art lovers should investigate the exhibitions at Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts – there are classes available as well!
- Catch a show or do a class at the Uxbridge Arts Centre in Howick.
- Let the kids have a ride on the new 80m double flying fox at Macleans Park Reserve.
