Onehunga’s recently opened new foreshore is just the beginning for one of Auckland’s oldest neighbourhoods.
Panuku Development Auckland’s recent announcement that Onehunga is set for a major upgrade has delighted local residents. None more so than Auckland councillor for Maungakiekie-Tamaki, Denise Krum,
“This is wonderful news for the residents of Onehunga. It has a vibrant town centre and a number of fantastic public amenities. This investment is set to build on what is an already thriving area,” she says.
Onehunga was identified as an ideal location for investment, not only because it is close to the Manukau Harbour and only 10km from the CBD and the airport, but also because there is 4ha of council-owned sites that have development potential.
Councillor Krum says, “I have long supported plans for development in this area and am heartened to see the emphasis of Panuku on quality urban design and creating more affordable housing. Onehunga’s location and the recent foreshore upgrade means it is fast becoming one of Auckland’s most desirable neighbourhoods”.
