Zoo Tales: What’s the word for fat and round in Maori? (1)

This week on Zoo Tales, we follow kunekune pigs, Alma and Neena, on their daily walk through the Auckland Zoo

We also catch up with Animal Experience Keeper Hayley, who tells us a bit about her two favourite pigs.

The name kunekune means 'fat and round' in Māori, an apt description for this unusual looking pig.

The typical kunekune nature is of a sociable placid pig that likes close human contact. They are intelligent, resourceful and affectionate, with a passion for food and a good scratch.

Council-controlled organisation Regional Facilities Auckland manages major regional facilities and iconic venues across Auckland, including Auckland Zoo.
