If you're planning to drive on Muriwai Beach this summer, please apply for a free permit first.
The permits are free and you can apply for one on the Auckland Council website. All you need to do is fill in your details and make sure you have your permit with you when you drive on the beach.

Remember to read the rules and guidelines that come with the permit. These stress the importance of staying off the dunes, looking out for partially submerged objects, only accessing the beach three hours either side of low tide and slowing down when there are people or animals around.
It’s encouraging that many people have already signed up for permits. However, we need to educate drivers further on the importance of being aware of their surroundings, including all the other people and animals using the beach.
