Animal management team has valuable role

Both dog owners and the general public have a responsibility to understand that dogs can be unpredictable.

Auckland Council does everything within its power to ensure your safety around animals through our Dog Management Bylaw and effective enforcement.

Unfortunately we too often need to respond to avoidable incidents by euthanising animals or prosecuting owners.

Having one regional team means our highly trained staff can share their skills and knowledge to improve the experience of both dog owners and non-dog owners and to make dogs a positive part of life in Auckland.

The council’s animal management team do a marvellous job – their hard work region-wide is really valuable in keeping our communities safe.

Animal control officers can be dispatched immediately by contacting Auckland Council’s 24-hour call centre on 09 301 0101. This is crucial to ensure we can respond to public concerns.
