Green light for greenways
Rodney Local Board intends to develop greenways plans in several areas, including Huapai/Kumeu and Warkworth.

Developing greenways plans is part of Rodney Local Board’s commitment to improving access and connectivity in Rodney towns and villages.

Auckland's greenways plans are being developed by local boards and their communities. Their longterm aim is to greatly improve walking, cycling and ecological connections across the region.

Consultation with local communities on greenways development is planned in the following areas of Rodney:

• Waimauku, Huapai/Kumeū and Riverhead in May
• Warkworth, Snells Beach and Matakana later this year.

Rodney Local Board Chairperson Brenda Steele says gathering feedback from the community is an essential part of the mapping process. “It’s very important to hear everyone’s ideas so that local knowledge is included in the plan.”

A greenways plan for Wellsford was adopted last July. Email greenwaysrodney@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz to find out more and to sign up for the consultation.
