Stancombe Cottage, formerly Baverstock Cottage, was opened at its new site on Murphy’s Bush Scenic Reserve in Flat Bush on 9 March.

The small heritage cottage was moved from its site next to the Buddhist temple on Stancombe Road in 2011 and restored by Howick Local Board for community use.

It’s approximately 180 square metres, with two small meeting rooms, two offices, a dining/staff room and a small kitchen and bathroom.

Howick Local Board member Lucy Schwaner says the building will be leased by community groups that can show positive community outcomes from using the building.

“It’s a great way to showcase our heritage and ensure that there are more options available for local groups wanting to make a difference out in our community,” she says.
